Job Title: Payroll and Operations Manager Job Purpose Our client in the logistics industry is looking for a Payroll and Operations Manager to oversee payroll administration HR operational support and compensation and benefits processes. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing maintain compliance with statutory requirements and support efficient HR systems and operational functions within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing -
Oversee the end-to-end payroll process ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries bonuses allowances deductions and benefits.

Maintain and manage employee payroll records ensuring all data (new hires terminations promotions and changes) is correctly updated.

Coordinate with HR to validate employee data impacting payroll calculations.
-
Ensure accurate processing of overtime leave adjustments and other payroll-related changes.
Compliance and Regulatory Management -
Ensure payroll processes comply with all relevant tax laws labour regulations and statutory reporting requirements.

Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and ensure timely implementation of updates.

Manage submission of statutory returns including income tax and other regulatory filings.
-
Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation and reports.
Payroll Reporting and Analysis -
Conduct monthly payroll reconciliations and variance analysis.

Prepare detailed payroll reports for management highlighting labour costs trends and variances.
-
Provide insights and recommendations to Finance regarding payroll-related financial data and cost analysis.

Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within payroll processes.
-
Support annual audits relating to payroll and compensation records.
Systems Management -
Oversee payroll system functionality and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Troubleshoot and resolve payroll system issues in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
-
Ensure effective use and optimisation of payroll software (e.g. SAGE 300 People or similar systems).
Employee Communication and Support -
Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related employee queries including salary discrepancies deductions and benefits.

Communicate payroll cycles policy changes and tax updates to employees in a clear and timely manner.

Collaborate with HR to resolve employee payroll concerns effectively and professionally.
Ad hoc Duties -
Support payroll-related audits projects and system implementations.

Contribute to the development and refinement of payroll policies and procedures.

Collaborate with HR Finance and other departments to ensure seamless operational processes.
Requirements Knowledge & Experience Education & Experience -
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Human Resources or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum of 7 years experience in payroll administration.
-
At least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory payroll role.

Strong understanding of labour laws tax regulations and statutory filings.
Technical Skills & Competencies -
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and tax regulations.

Proficiency in payroll systems particularly SAGE 300 People.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills especially Excel.
-
Strong analytical problem-solving and numerical skills.
-
High attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
