Job Description: Maintenance Manager (Breeder Operations) Overview
Our client in the logistics industry is looking for an experienced and highly organised Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance operations across their facilities and fleet. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance reliability and longevity of equipment infrastructure and vehicles while maintaining strict compliance with safety operational and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities 1. Maintenance Planning & Execution -
Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs across all operations.

Oversee maintenance of hatchery equipment poultry houses machinery vehicles and buildings.
-
Schedule maintenance activities to minimise downtime and operational disruption.
-
Ensure efficient equipment performance to support continuous production.
-
Maintain infrastructure including buildings gardens and surrounding areas to required standards.
-
Plan maintenance schedules to reduce unnecessary overtime.
2. Hatchery & Poultry House Systems -
Maintain and troubleshoot hatchery systems including electrical mechanical and environmental controls.

Ensure accurate operation of temperature humidity ventilation and automation systems.
-
Oversee poultry house automation alarm systems and environmental controls.
-
Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity protocols during maintenance activities.
3. Workshop & Technical Operations -
Manage workshop operations ensuring proper use of tools equipment and spare parts.

Supervise fabrication welding and mechanical repair work.
-
Ensure calibration and safe use of all technical tools and instruments.
4. Fleet & Machinery Management -
Oversee maintenance and servicing of all vehicles trucks and machinery.
-
Maintain service schedules fuel efficiency and regulatory compliance.
-
Coordinate with external service providers for specialised repairs.
5. Team Leadership & Supervision -
Lead supervise and develop maintenance technicians and mechanics.
-
Allocate daily tasks and ensure timely completion of work.
-
Provide ongoing training and technical development to the team.
6. Spare Parts & Cost Control -
Manage inventory of spare parts consumables and tools.
-
Ensure availability of critical components without overstocking.
-
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.
-
Evaluate suppliers and contractors for cost-effectiveness and quality.
7. Safety Compliance & Biosecurity -
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
-
Enforce biosecurity and environmental regulations.
-
Conduct safety inspections risk assessments and enforce safe work procedures (including lock-out/tag-out systems).
8. Documentation & Reporting -
Maintain accurate maintenance records logs and service histories.
-
Prepare reports on equipment performance breakdowns and costs.
-
Analyse recurring issues and recommend improvements.
9. Vehicle Availability & Fleet Readiness -
Ensure all vehicles and transport units are operational and roadworthy at all times.
-
Implement strict maintenance and inspection schedules.
-
Monitor and reduce incidents such as breakdowns accidents fuel misuse cargo damage and delays.
-
Ensure proper logistical planning for timely and safe deliveries including live cargo.
10. Execution of Management Instructions -
Execute all directives from senior management accurately and within required timelines.

Align maintenance activities with operational priorities.
-
Provide timely feedback on task progress and challenges.
11. Weekly Planning & Reporting -
Develop and implement weekly maintenance plans across all operations.

Track task completion and address delays with corrective actions.
-
Submit weekly reports covering:

Planned vs. completed tasks
-
Equipment and vehicle status
-
Outstanding issues and corrective actions
-
Maintain full accountability for maintenance outcomes.
12. Vehicle Condition & Continuous Readiness -
Conduct regular inspections to ensure vehicles are in safe and optimal condition.

Ensure compliance with licensing insurance and safety standards.
-
Minimise downtime impacting operations and logistics.
13. Feed Plant Maintenance & Reliability -
Oversee maintenance of all feed plant equipment including grinders mixers conveyors pelletisers and control systems.
-
Ensure strict adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
-
Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production delays.
-
Maintain cleanliness safety and dust-control standards.
-
Keep accurate maintenance and spare parts records.
-
Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules.
Key Requirements -
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Proven experience in maintenance management within agriculture poultry manufacturing or a similar environment.
-
Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical and automated systems.
-
Experience managing workshops fleets and heavy machinery.
-
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
-
Strong planning organisational and problem-solving abilities.
-
