Job Description:
A Senior Accountant in a limestone manufacturing company
plays a critical role in managing financial activities focusing on cost accounting for production inventory management and regulatory compliance (such as GST and mining royalties). This position requires a strong technical understanding of accounting principles advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:Monitor and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) track inventory levels and calculate production costs specifically relating to raw limestone extraction processing and inventory ensuring accuracy in valuation.
- Financial Reporting & Closing:Manage month-end and year-end closing processes including preparing balance sheets profit and loss statements and cash flow reports.
- General Ledger Maintenance:Oversee general ledger accounts including reconciliations for accounts payable/receivable inter-company transactions and bank statements.
- Taxation & Compliance:Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1 GSTR-3B) TDS and TCS; ensure compliance with local and federal laws including mining royalties or environmental taxes.
- Audit & Internal Controls:Coordinate with external/internal auditors prepare audit schedules and implement internal controls to prevent discrepancies and fraud.
- Variance Analysis & Budgeting:Conduct variance analysis between budgeted and actual costs analyzing production efficiency and cost control.
- Team Leadership:Supervise train and mentor junior accountants and bookkeepers.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education:Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field; CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
- Experience:47 years of accounting experience ideally in a manufacturing or mining environment.
- Technical Skills:Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP Tally QuickBooks).
- Competencies:Strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
Common Performance Metrics
- Accuracy of monthly financial closing (within designated timelines).
- Inventory valuation accuracy.
- Timely compliance filing (GST taxes).
- Effective management of accounts receivable/payable (DSO reduction)
