| Job Description The University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine in partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is seeking a highly skilled and team-oriented Podiatrist with expertise in wound care and limb preservation to support our Division of Vascular Surgery in the comprehensive management of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and critical limb ischemia. The ideal candidate is experienced in advanced limb-salvage strategies and committed to collaborative multidisciplinary care. This role is essential to expanding and strengthening our limb preservation and wound care programs improving clinical outcomes and ensuring seamless coordination across vascular podiatry and wound care services. Responsibilities This Podiatric specialist will have the following key responsibilities: Clinical Care Provide advanced podiatric evaluation and management for patients with critical limb ischemia diabetic foot complications non-healing wounds and high-risk foot pathology. Perform bedside and outpatient wound assessments debridement and comprehensive wound care interventions. Support vascular surgeons by co-managing pre- and post-revascularization patients to optimize limb-salvage outcomes. Participate in multidisciplinary Limb Preservation Program (LPP) including joint clinics and case conferences as needed. Provide podiatric surgical care when appropriate and within scope. Oversee offloading biomechanical assessment and preventive strategies for high-risk patients. Program Development & Team Integration Partner with vascular surgeons and wound-care teams to streamline protocols improve communication pathways and enhance continuity of care. Contribute to the development of standardized limb-preservation workflows documentation templates and quality metrics. Participate in quality-improvement initiatives focused on wound healing amputation reduction and patient experience. Administration & Education Document care in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards. Educate residents fellows APPs and medical students in wound care principles and foot pathology. Support outreach efforts to referring providers and community partners involved in limb preservation with the intention of growing the wound care clinic. |
DPM degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching academic research and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Associate or Full Professor.
Must hold or be eligible for a full unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents fellows and medical students in clinical medicine.
