Job Summary

DESIGN MANAGER

Overview

Lead the design management for major civil and infrastructure projects under one of Hong Kongs flagship urban development visions. This exciting role involves overseeing multidisciplinary design teams on large-scale civil works tunnels stations and associated infrastructure in the Northern New Territories delivering critical connectivity and sustainable urban solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full design lifecycle for civil and structural disciplines including permanent and temporary works
Coordinate and review designs from internal teams and external consultants
Ensure compliance with Hong Kong statutory requirements technical standards and client expectations
Handle design submissions value engineering risk management and variation orders
Liaise with supervising officers MTRC government departments and stakeholders
Drive cost-effective buildable and innovative solutions to meet programme and quality targets
Support tender preparation and technical proposals for future phases

Minimum Requirements

Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related discipline
Chartered status preferred (e.g. MHKIE MIEAust CPEng CEng MRICS) not mandatory but highly advantageous
Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience in design management of major civil/infrastructure projects
Proven track record on Hong Kong government MTRC or large-scale tunnelling/civil works
Strong knowledge of local regulations temporary works ELS foundations and BIM coordination

Desirable

Experience with marine tunnel station or large-scale site formation projects
Familiarity with NEC contracts value engineering and sustainability initiatives
Excellent stakeholder management and leadership of design teams

Reporting & Location Reports to the Project Director / Design Director; office-based in Hong Kong with regular site presence across Northern New Territories project locations.
