Job Summary

SAFETY MANAGER

Overview: Lead comprehensive safety management for major ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects within the Northern Metropolis development and MTRC railway works ensuring world-class safety performance across large-scale civil tunnelling station and urban infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish implement and continuously enhance the project Safety Management System (SMS) in full compliance with Hong Kong regulations and international standards (ISO 45001).
  • Oversee site-wide safety operations including risk assessments safe work procedures audits inspections and thorough accident/incident investigations.
  • Lead and develop the Safety team; deliver targeted safety training programmes and foster a proactive safety culture across all levels.
  • Liaise closely with MTRC government departments (Labour Department Environmental Protection Department) consultants and subcontractors.
  • Drive continuous safety improvement initiatives incorporating innovative technologies and best practices for high-risk environments.
  • Achieve and sustain outstanding safety records to secure recognition from Labour Department OSHC and CIC.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or construction-related discipline.
  • Registered Safety Officer under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations.
  • Registered Safety Auditor under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation.
  • More than 5 years construction site safety experience at managerial level after registration as Safety Officer.

Desirable (Full-Score Bonus):

  • Chartered Member of IOSH and/or Certified Safety Professional (BCSP).
  • 10 years in senior safety management roles on major civil/infrastructure projects in Hong Kong.
  • Proven track record of winning multiple safety awards from Labour Department OSHC and/or CIC.
  • Direct experience on MTRC projects railway stations tunnelling government infrastructure or large-scale urban development works in the Northern Metropolis.

Reporting & Location: Reports to the Project Director / Safety Director; office-based (Hong Kong) with regular site presence across Northern Metropolis and MTRC project locations.

The Project Major infrastructure projects supporting the Northern Metropolis development vision and MTRC railway network expansion delivering critical railway extensions stations associated civil works and urban connectivity initiatives in the Northern New Territories.
