Key Responsibilities:
Crop & Horticulture Production (Core Enterprise)
- Plan implement and monitor production cycles of vegetables
- Develop and follow annual and seasonal crop calendars.
- Supervise land preparation planting irrigation fertilization pest/disease control and harvesting.
- Ensure good post-harvest handling grading and marketing of produce.
- Maintain high standards of soil fertility crop rotation and integrated pest management
Livestock Enterprises (Goats and Poultry)
- Manage feeding breeding housing and health programs for goats and poultry.
- Monitor animal performance weight gain and health records.
- Coordinate with veterinarians for vaccinations treatments and disease prevention.
- Ensure proper waste management and biosecurity on the farm.
Farm Operations & Resource Management
- Supervise and train farm workers allocating tasks and monitoring performance.
- Maintain farm infrastructure (fencing irrigation systems sheds water supply equipment).
- Prepare and manage budgets for inputs labor and operations.
- Keep accurate production sales and inventory records.
- Optimize use of water land and other natural resources to ensure sustainable farming.
Marketing & Business Development
- Coordinate sales of horticultural produce and livestock products to local markets.
- Identify and develop new market opportunities and customer relationships.
- Support branding and quality control of farm products.
- Track profitability of each enterprise and recommend improvements.
Compliance & Expansion
- Ensure compliance with agricultural health and safety regulations.
- Implement good agricultural practices (GAP) and animal welfare standards.
- Assist in farm expansion plans from 2 hectares to 10 hectares including enterprise diversification.
Key Skills:
- Ability to manage labor plan operations and maintain detailed records.
- Business acumen with skills in budgeting cost control and marketing.
- Practical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership communication and organizational abilities.
- Computer literacy (MS Office farm management software an advantage.)
Key Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Agriculture Agribusiness Horticulture or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 5 years experience in crop and livestock farm management.
- Strong knowledge of horticultural practices livestock husbandry and poultry management.
