Job Description
Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Engineer required to join a specialist engineering manufacturer in the Midlands.
Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Engineer will be an experienced engineering professional with a background in automotive mechanical or electro-mechanical systems. Youll bring proven expertise in 3D CAD applications/specification engineering and supporting technical projects with both internal teams and external customers.
Working as part of a small close-knit engineering department youll play a key role in supporting product specification technical problem-solving and industry projects. The role involves liaising with customers on braking and suspension systems contributing to telematics and monitoring developments and ensuring compliance with regulatory and trade body requirements.
Package:
- Up to 50000 (Depending on experience)
- Annual bonus (equivalent to approx. 8% of salary)
- 25 days holiday bank holidays
- Pension scheme
- Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
Roles:
- Produce and review 3D CAD models of components and assemblies
- Support customers with braking and suspension system specifications
- Perform engineering calculations for trailer designs
- Contribute to telematics and monitoring projects (testing & validation)
- Liaise with trade bodies and government on compliance/regulation
- Provide input to R&D initiatives and process improvements
- Work closely with quality technical services and wider engineering teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a design or applications engineering role (automotive mechanical or electro-mechanical sector preferred)
- Degree HNC or HND in Mechanical Automotive or related Engineering discipline
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar)
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems; exposure to electronics/telematics advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving communication and customer-facing skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be commutable to the Midlands
