Top Tasks or Responsibilities in scope for this role:

1. Support a specific project with a strong focus on the MAPS XD content management system.
2. Understand and follow redlines to update or create publishing source files according to Tech Comm best practices.
3. Update or create medical device graphics (illustrations screen snaps etc).
4. Work closely with (and take direction from) technical writers and the other graphic designers on our team.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER TECHNICAL COMMUNICATIONS

In this role you will be working in the Cardiovascular Technical Communication group doing graphic design and electronic publishing for product manuals. Your main focus will be supporting a specific product team. This work will include learning to follow Tech Comms workflows and best practices as well as learning how to use a proprietary content management system.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Conceives designs lays out updates and coordinates illustrations graphics templates and artwork for product manuals as required and according to established standards
Develops interpretive themes that convey ideas and information
Performs electronic publishing tasks using templates and style sheets; creates new templates and style sheets as needed
Creates graphic presentations that communicate mood emphasis insight viewpoint and similar visual impressions
Provides guidance on graphic technology
Works closely with internal company contacts to understand requirements and create cost efficient graphic designs through available mediums
May provide computer graphic services for web artwork
May have responsibility or input on reproduction and printing processes through inhouse resources or outside vendors

MUST HAVES
Bachelors degree and 2 years of graphic design experience OR advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE
Experience with industrystandard electronic graphic design software applications (such as Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Inkscape Gimp)
Experience with industrystandard electronic publishing software applications (such as Adobe InDesign FrameMaker XML)
Experience with troubleshooting tools and electronic files
Strong attention to detail
Strong written and oral communications skills
Ability to prioritize and reprioritize workload on a daily basis
Ability to handle multiple projects on an ongoing basis
Ability to work independently and motivated to perform at a highlevel without constant supervision
