Chief Investment Officer

What we are looking for

We are on the lookout for a seasoned and visionary Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to spearhead our investment strategy. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of our investment activities steering the management and strategic direction of our investment portfolio orchestrating strategic investment decisions leading indepth due diligence on potential investments and ensuring investments not only offer financial viability but also generate significant social and environmental impact.

What does the job involve

As the Chief Investment Officer you will:

• Lead the funds due diligence efforts personally engaging in the analysis when necessary. This involves both quantitative and qualitative assessments including financial modeling comprehensive company and market analysis social impact evaluation investment merits and risks scrutiny management team benchmarking and investment structure and returns analysis.
• Chair and guide the funds investment committee providing expert insights and recommendations to facilitate informed and strategic investment decisions.
• Ensure the funds operations are in full compliance with relevant financial regulations legislation and standards collaborating closely with pertinent partners.
• Direct the comprehensive management of the investment portfolio including monitoring social and financial outcomes of investments supervising management information systems and ensuring adherence to contractual obligations.
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with founders of portfolio companies oversee the investment portfolios performance participate in board meetings and manage any portfoliorelated changes or special situations.

Qualifications

• MBA or equivalent qualification is essential.
• Over 10 years of proven experience in venture capital private equity impact investing or investment banking with a particular emphasis on investments in Africa.
• Demonstrated expertise in sourcing structuring and executing highimpact deals.
• Extensive experience in portfolio management and the structuring of complex financial instruments (both debt and equity).
• Ability to independently engage with senior management of potential investees and partners.
• Proven competence in conducting thorough due diligence including financial analysis. Prior experience with private equity funds will be considered an advantage.
• Exceptional problemsolving skills with the ability to apply business acumen to resolve issues and devise solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
• A commitment to high ethical standards and motivation.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills with bilingual proficiency in English and French.
• Familiarity with climate solutions and climatetech ventures is highly desirable.
