Position Summary:
Provide instruction to students who lack the credits necessary to graduate with their class and are at risk of leaving school without a diploma; guide students toward gaining knowledge to complete the Missouri Options program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction to students
- Track student progress toward completion of the Missouri Options program
- Align instruction to the HiSet exam
- Implement the program disciplinary plan for students who are off track
- Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction
- Participate in professional development activities
- Maintain accurate student records including but not limited to progress attendance grades discipline graduation requirements and post-secondary counseling
- Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
- Collaborate regularly with all stakeholders regarding student progress educational concerns and program needs ( teacher conferences program coordinators building administrators district administrators internal departments and other stakeholders)
- Establish a well-organized flexible classroom atmosphere with a print rich environment
- Develop relationships with school personnel and other stakeholders to ensure successful student referrals
- Conduct period/as needed employment verifications/visits
- Participate in professional learning communities
- Ensure all aspects of the Missouri Options program meet the Assurances as set forth by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Perform related work as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- MO State Math Certification for grades 9-12
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments
- Successful prior teaching experience with the appropriate grade level is preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sufficient vision to read printed material see distant objects with clarity and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing walking sitting bending and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects operate mechanical equipment and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold wet and/or humid conditions high noise levels and various work related hazards
