Our client is looking for an Abattoir Manager to join their team.
Salary and Benefits:
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee full poultry slaughter operations including live bird receiving slaughter evisceration chilling grading and dispatch.
- Ensure daily processing targets of approximately 10000 birds are achieved.
- Monitor and report on production KPIs including yield downtime labour efficiency and wastage.
- Coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise operational interruptions.
- Ensure strict hygiene and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the plant.
- Ensure full compliance with national food safety regulations and maintain effective traceability systems.
- Liaise with veterinary inspectors and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Ensure humane handling and slaughter practices in line with animal welfare standards.
- Monitor carcass quality grading and rejection rates to improve overall yield and reduce contamination.
- Lead manage and develop supervisors line leaders and plant staff.
- Conduct staff training performance management and workforce planning.
- Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture across the facility.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and conduct regular risk assessments.
- Monitor operational costs and oversee inventory management of packaging materials and spare parts.
- Prepare daily weekly and monthly production reports and provide KPI performance analysis to management.

- Sound knowledge of poultry processing equipment and plant operations.
- Experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.

Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in Food Science Animal Science Agriculture Production Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in poultry processing or abattoir operations with management exposure preferred.
- Proven experience managing high volume production environments.
- Strong understanding of food safety quality control and compliance standards.
