The Role

The school is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead and manage the SEND provision across the school.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive high-quality support and that staff are equipped with the knowledge and strategies required to support inclusive teaching.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of the schools SEND strategy
Identify students who require additional support and coordinate interventions
Manage and support teaching assistants and learning support staff
Work with teachers to ensure effective differentiation within lessons
Coordinate EHCP applications reviews and documentation
Liaise with parents carers and external support services
Monitor the progress of students with SEND and evaluate support strategies
Maintain accurate SEND records and provision maps
Provide staff training on inclusive teaching practices
Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and safeguarding procedures

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to obtain)
Experience working with SEND students in a secondary school
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
