About Us
Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks an experienced strategic and collaborative development professional to serve as Senior Director of Development & Individual Giving (Senior Director). Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations the Senior Director will lead and expand the major gifts program at Einstein with a focus on cultivating meaningful relationships securing philanthropic support and strengthening connections between alumni friends and parents and the institution.
This individual will work closely with internal partnersfaculty leadership and advancement colleaguesas well as with external stakeholders including alumni donors and volunteers. The Senior Director will be responsible for both frontline fundraising and program strategy driving long-term engagement and investment from Einsteins donor and prospective donor communities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
- Collaborate with the Vice President and Prospect Strategy & Research team to design and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy aligned with institutional priorities and fundraising goals.
- Partner with the Assistant Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations and the Senior Director of Prospect Strategy and Research to use data-driven analysis to identify trends assess performance and inform outreach and engagement strategies.
- Develop long-range plans to increase alumni participation deepen affinity and expand the pipeline of major and planned gift prospects.
Portfolio & Fundraising Management
- Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 100150 alumni prospects with a focus on securing gifts of $100000.
- Conduct regular donor visits cultivate relationships solicit major gifts and steward existing supporters.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in annual giving planned giving and stewardship to ensure seamless donor engagement.
Constituent Relations & Internal Collaboration
- Serve as a key liaison between alumni parents and friends of the College of Medicine ensuring consistent mission-aligned messaging and meaningful engagement opportunities.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations to liaise with academic leadership faculty and staff to identify fundraising opportunities and integrate development efforts with institutional priorities.
- Collaborate with alumni relations staff to align major gift strategies with alumni programming and communications.
Team Management & Reporting
- Provide leadership and mentorship to staff working on major gifts strategies including the assistant director alumni relations and alumni giving.
- Track progress toward annual fundraising goals reporting regularly to the Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations.
- Ensure accurate and timely use of the CRM system for prospect tracking moves management and performance metrics.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree required.
- Minimum of 710 years of progressive experience in development with a focus on individual major gifts.
- Demonstrated success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
- Exceptional written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform fundraising strategy and portfolio management.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with donors alumni faculty and institutional leaders.
- Experience working within a complex academic medical or higher education environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Raisers Edge Slate or Salesforce.
- Willingness to travel and participate in evening/weekend events as needed.
