Job Description

Maryville Middle School Assistant Athletic Director

Department: Instruction

Reports to: Athletic and Activities Director Building Principals

Classification: Exempt

Category: Professional Staff

Summary

The middle school assistant athletic director is responsible for overseeing the duties and responsibilities of the Maryville R-II Athletics program as they relate to Maryville Middle School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and abilities required. Duties and Responsibilities of Athletic Director:

  • Assist in the proper supervision of MMS contests.
    • Serve as a point of contact for game day officials and visiting coaches/teams.
    • Ensure game day equipment is contest-ready.
    • Ensure student athletes have the equipment/uniforms necessary for contests.
    • Act as Administrator on Duty for an average of 10 events per season (fall winter spring)
  • Serve as a liaison between coaches of 7th and 8th grade sport teams administration and district transportation for game day transportation.
  • Helps maintain accurate school records (rosters physicals etc.)
  • Promotes student participation.
  • Keeps administrative staff members (AD principals superintendent) fully informed regarding the athletics and activities program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or prescribed by the Maryville R-II School District policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree required advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Prior experience as district Administrator on Duty coaching or sponsorship is preferred.

Certificates Licenses Registrations: Missouri DESE certification.

Skills and Abilities

Language

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

Read analyze and interpret documents such as professional journals and government guidance and regulations.

Write reports complete forms and correspond with parents and students.

Speak effectively with staff members parents and students.

Computation

Ability to add subtract multiply divide and compute percentages using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Technology

This position requires basic skills in the use of computers and hand-held devices such as tablets computers and phones.

Physical Demands

Ability to see close work such as typed or handwritten material.

Hearing

The employee must be able to hear a conversation in a noisy environment.

Attendance

Must be available during and outside of regular working hours due to competitions.
