SUMMARY

The CBI University Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the continued growth and success of the City of Charlottes Charlotte Business Inclusion (CBI) program through the management and expansion of CBI University an innovative educational platform designed to empower Minority Women and Small Business Enterprises (MWSBEs). This role focuses on developing coordinating and enhancing educational and capacity-building programs that position MWSBEs to compete effectively for City contracts including those tied to the Citys ambitious Mobility Vision and other major public investments.
The Coordinator will act as the central point for educational program management vendor readiness assessment strategic alignment and stakeholder engagement with an emphasis on leveraging social media marketing and technical tools to maximize program reach and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management & Coordination:

  • Oversee the daily operations of CBI University ensuring seamless coordination across internal City departments and external partner organizations.

  • Centralize align and promote educational programs targeting MWSBE growth capacity-building and contract readiness.

Assessment Counseling & Readiness:

  • Conduct business assessments to determine educational needs and provide one-on-one counseling to guide MWSBEs toward relevant training certification and growth pathways.

  • Prepare firms to compete for upcoming contractual opportunities particularly in alignment with the Citys Mobility Plan and major infrastructure initiatives.

Program Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Implement systems to monitor participation evaluate program outcomes and track impact metrics.

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for CBI leadership and City stakeholders.

Recruitment Outreach & Marketing:

  • Design and implement strategic outreach campaigns to attract diverse MWSBE participants.

  • Utilize social media marketing strategies and associated tools (e.g. LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Canva Constant Contact) to raise program visibility promote events and engage target audiences.

  • Represent CBI at community events conferences and outreach forums.

Mentor Protg Program Management:

  • Lead the development launch and administration of the CBI Mentor Protg Program to foster business growth through mentorship and collaboration.

  • Match emerging MWSBEs with seasoned business mentors for skills development and knowledge transfer.

Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Ensure educational offerings are aligned with City contracting opportunities workforce development goals and economic mobility strategies.

  • Collaborate with internal City departments educational institutions and industry partners to design programs that meet evolving market demands.

External Consultant Coordination:

  • Work closely with external consultants providing technical assistance to CBIs high-performing businesses.

  • Ensure continuity quality and alignment of consultant-led programming with CBI University objectives.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing MWSBEs.

  • Experience working in government nonprofit or private-sector supplier diversity roles preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.

  • Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in social media marketing and associated digital content creation tools.

  • Experience using data analysis and reporting systems to evaluate program success.

  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement and small business development.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

  • Passion for equity inclusion and small business growth.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Public Administration Education Marketing or related field or equivalent combination of skills abilities background and education to perform the essential duties of the position.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in program management business development supplier diversity or related fields.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Citys Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes but is not limited to: reference checks social security verification education verification criminal conviction record check and if applicable a credit history check sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidates written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process candidates may be asked to take a skills test and/or participate in other assessments.
