Job Title: Ophthalmologist Consultant Phaco Surgeon
Location: Madurai Tamil Nadu
Overview:
The Ophthalmologist Consultant Phaco Surgeon plays a pivotal role in our healthcare organization by providing expert surgical services for patients with cataracts and other eye disorders. This position requires a combination of clinical acumen and outstanding surgical skills primarily focusing on phacoemulsification techniques. As a vital member of the ophthalmology team the consultant will engage in diagnosing various eye conditions developing treatment plans and performing surgeries that significantly improve patients vision and quality of life. The role demands a compassionate approach to patient care ensuring that each individual receives personalized attention and support throughout their journey from diagnosis through postoperative care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose and treat a variety of ocular conditions.
  • Perform phacoemulsification and other cataract surgery techniques with precision.
  • Provide preoperative evaluations and postoperative followups for patients.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans based on individual patient needs and conditions.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment for accurate assessments and monitoring.
  • Educate patients about their conditions and the surgical procedures involved.
  • Manage complications arising from surgical procedures effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmology staff and other medical professionals for comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain thorough medical records documenting patient interactions and treatment plans.
  • Stay updated with the latest advances in ophthalmology and surgical techniques.
  • Participate in departmental meetings contributing to discussions on quality improvement.
  • Engage in continuing education and training to enhance clinical skills.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior staff and fellow residents.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to promote ocular health awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in the surgical environment.
Required Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of residency in ophthalmology from an accredited program.
  • Board certification in ophthalmology is preferred.
  • Fellowship training in cataract surgery or relevant subspecialties.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical and surgical practice.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing phacoemulsification surgeries.
  • Strong understanding of ocular anatomy and diseases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage patients effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patientcentered care with a focus on outcomes.
  • Innovative and proactive in improving clinical practices.
  • Wellorganized and capable of managing multiple priorities.
