The Ophthalmologist Consultant Phaco Surgeon plays a crucial role in providing specialized ophthalmic care and surgical interventions for patients suffering from ocular diseases particularly cataracts. The Ophthalmologist Consultant is responsible for diagnosing and treating various eye conditions performing advanced surgical procedures and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose ocular diseases.
- Perform phacoemulsification surgery for cataracts and other advanced eye surgeries.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care for surgical patients.
- Utilize modern diagnostic equipment to assess and treat patients.
- Educate patients and families on eye health and disease prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate and uptodate patient records in compliance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in ophthalmology and surgical techniques.
- Participate in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage complications and emergencies related to ocular surgeries.
- Conduct outpatient consultations and followup assessments.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior ophthalmologists and medical staff.
- Engage in community outreach programs to promote eye health awareness.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice in ophthalmology.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution.
- Postgraduate degree in Ophthalmology (MD or MS).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ophthalmology practice.
- Specialized training in phacoemulsification and cataract surgery.
- Current medical license to practice in India.
- Proficient in the use of modern ophthalmic surgical instruments and technology.
- Strong understanding of ocular diseases and treatment methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a teambased environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and education.
- Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Strong analytical and decisionmaking abilities.
- Detailoriented with a strong focus on patient safety.
- Experience in conducting research in ophthalmology is a plus.
- Familiarity with telemedicine practices in patient care.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including oncall duties as needed.
