As a Program Coordinator with the Centre for Sexuality you will play a pivotal role in organizing delivering and monitoring population specific programs that align with the organizations vision mission values and strategic directions.
- The Camp fYrefly project coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering Camp activities and programming throughout the year to engage 2SLGBTQ youth in Southern Alberta. This includes the planning and implementation of the annual Camp fYrefly summer camp and development and delivery of alumni engagement activities to be offered throughout the year. Camp fYrefly is a fun educational social and personal overnight leadership retreat for 2SLGBTQ youth ages 13 17.
- The coordinator also facilitates engaging educational programs and workshops to youth in schools and communities with a focus on building healthy relationships and sexual health education knowledge and skills.
- The role works collaboratively with an internal camp fYrelfy planning team community partners volunteers and other stakeholders (camper families/natural supports etc.
As our successful candidate you will provide support in the following areas:
Program Administration
- Complete program administration including overseeing bookings and liaising with partners preparing session content and learning aids.
- Support the writing of program funder reports.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings team meetings training and other initiatives.
- Offer assistance to the communications staff with input on program promotional material including posters brochures and other types of print and online media.
- Follow the established workplan seeking clarification where required.
Program Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting
Program Planning and Implementation
- Plan and implement annual Camp fYrefly summer camp.
- Develop and implement camp engagement strategy for full year of programming.
- Facilitate workshops events or training sessions.
- Participate as an active member of the Team to ensure curriculum content is uptodate and relevant to the needs of the populations we serve.
- Participate on a project team to pilot and deliver new programs.
- Oversee and participate in the creation of program promotional material including posters brochures and other types of print and online media.
Community Engagement
- Promote the Centre for Sexuality as a leader in programs and services for sexual health.
- Represent the organization and programs at internal and external meetings and events.
- Respond to requests for information about the program in a professional and timely manner.
- Engage in community development activities to strengthen program visibility and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the community.
- Consult with impacted parties to determine their specific programming needs.
Training and Development
- Stay updated on trends emerging research and best practices.
- Provide training and onboarding support to colleagues.
- Work closely with facilitators and other teams to build capacity and ensure effective program delivery.
Partnership Engagement and Relationship Management
Qualifications and Attributes required:
- Bachelors degree or diploma in Social Work Human Services or Public Health or related field or combination of work experience with population specific programming expertise.
- Minimum of two 2 years of related work experience along with population specific expertise.
- Advanced knowledge of group facilitation techniques and practices.
- Experience with summer camps or youthbased programming.
- Demonstrated experience with program development practices.
- Proven ability in building partnerships fostering community relationships and driving alignment in engagement initiatives.
- Police information record check with vulnerable sector search.
Additional requirements:
- Access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (or willingness to obtain one).
- Valid First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to become certified).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $60000 $65000 annually.
