We are currently searching for an accomplished CONTROLLER to Direct finance & accounting operations at our clients Brooklyn NY corporate headquarters.

NOTE* This position will begin as a three to sixmonth contracttohire status with payroll/taxes/insurance administrated through StaffBankHR for our client in the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be converted to a permanent position as determined by the Hiring Manager.

Reporting to the C.F.O./ C.E.O the CONTROLLER will monitor department policies and procedures recommend improvements consult with the senior management team participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives and serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting. This leadership role will also ensure accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions. Oversees budgeting general ledger accounts payable and receivable payroll fixed asset management etc. as well as being adept at managing their team within the finance & accounting department.

General Responsibilities

Assists Senior Management in developing short and long term goals and objectives for the Accounting Department.

Ensures accounting plans goals and policies are consistent with established Companywide goals.

Ensures policies are in accordance with evolving regulations legal requirements and industry trends.

Supervises the development and implementation of financial information and control systems including general ledger budgeting cost allocation and other subsystems.

Oversees the preparation of daily monthly annual and other periodic financial statements and reports. Ensures external document submissions and filings are accurate and timely.

Coordinates tax reporting requirements. Works with external accountants to file federal state payroll and personal tax returns. Oversees the preparation and filing of payroll taxes and tracks and reports fringe benefit tax data (relocation expense reimbursements use of Company vehicles etc.).

Prepares and monitors the Accounting Department budget and business plan.

Coordinates the annual audit. Ensures that accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAP and government regulations. Cooperates with and assists external auditors as appropriate.

Oversees the preparation and control of operational budgets.

Ensures effective financial internal controls for the Department and the Company. Continually evaluates established policies and procedures and updates or modifies them as necessary. Documents and creates flowcharts to organize department processes.

Completes financial analyses of Company cash flow investment strategies banking relationships debt management etc. Develops and implements improvements as appropriate.

Serves as a liaison between the Company and external auditors and regulatory authorities.Oversees hiring and succession planning for the Department. Communicates with HR about staffing requirements and submits requests for filling open positions. Conversely works with HR in conjunction with managing annual performance reviews implementing course correction up to performance improvement plans and termination when warranted.





Requirements

Required Core Competency/Skills/Education/Experience

Proven experience as a Financial Controller

Complete demonstrable knowledge of basic accounting procedures

Indepth understanding of (GAAP)

Awareness of business/financial trends

NetSuite ERP accounting/financial functionality

Advanced MS Office/Excel skills

Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail

Professional Experience within a corporate accounting team at a midsize business accounting experience within a manufacturing business is strongly preferred.

Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures governmental regulations & reporting procedures and manufacturing business environments.

Five plus years of highlevel accounting experience combined with an additional three (3) years of experience supervising a team of no fewer than 3 lowerlevel accounting professionals (including AR/AP)

Requires a combination of bachelor s and master s degrees in accounting business or a related field;
CPA preferred and may be substituted for master s degree.
