IT Network Technician

Job Summary
Quetica is seeking a full-time Network Technician to support network infrastructure projects throughout the Metropolitan Council and Transit organizations in Minnesota. The selected candidate must reside within the Minnesota 7-county Twin Cities metro area and be available to work onsite at locations throughout the region. Responsibilities include installing and replacing network switches and ports supporting system engineers with network connectivity troubleshooting and performing work at both indoor and outdoor sites across the metro area.
Reliable transportation is required as travel throughout the 7-county region is expected. This is a full-time contract engagement with a flexible schedule and an anticipated duration of approximately five months.
Sample Tasks
- Install or replace physical network switches and ports in Transit and Council system infrastructure throughout the organization
- Support System Engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting network connectivity issues
- Support and communicate about workspace standard power systems and wireless connectivity issues with the network team
- Document work performed using pictures notes and shared spreadsheets
- Ensure equipment installation is in proper location of Council and Council connected infrastructure
- Ensure basic installation steps are performed
- Communicate set-up issues and concerns with System Engineers and the network team
- Identify appropriate hardware equipment to be transported and delivered for the required job
- Safely load and secure hardware equipment in Council vehicles
- Document appropriate hardware equipment delivered to System Engineer
- Discuss planned hardware transportation installation schedule and connection with the Systems Engineer
- Assist the Systems Engineer in layout of new infrastructure equipment
- Communicate planned work completion or issues
- Provide knowledge transfer to other Network Team members as required
Required Skills
- High school diploma/GED AND four or more years of relevant work experience; or an Associate or higher degree OR two-year college/technical school certification AND two or more years of relevant work experience
- Cisco certification
- Azure certification
- Experience working with General low voltage power multi-media connectivity and SolarWinds
- Experience reading blueprints and floor plans
- Experience promoting an equitable positive and respectful work environment that values culture and diversity among all employees
