Job Summary

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to perform installation maintenance troubleshooting repair and optimization of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. This role is responsible for reducing HVAC maintenance costs by utilizing advanced technical expertise to diagnose repair and maintain critical mechanical systems. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with chillers Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) and commercial HVAC equipment while providing technical leadership to other technicians.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Maintenance & Repair

  • Diagnose troubleshoot repair and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC equipment including:
    • Chillers
    • Boilers
    • Air Handling Units (AHUs)
    • Rooftop Units (RTUs)
    • Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems
    • Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
    • Heat Pumps
    • Cooling Towers
    • Building Management/Automation Systems (BMS/BAS)
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to maximize efficiency and reliability.
  • Respond to equipment failures and emergency service requests.

Installation & Commissioning

  • Install modify and commission HVAC systems and associated controls.
  • Verify proper equipment operation and ensure systems meet design specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints wiring diagrams schematics and technical manuals.
  • Coordinate with contractors and facility personnel during equipment installations and upgrades.

Technical Leadership

  • Mentor and support HVAC technicians and apprentices.
  • Assist with training on troubleshooting maintenance procedures and best practices.
  • Lead complex repair and maintenance projects.
  • Help coordinate daily work assignments and priorities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA EPA and industry safety standards.
  • Maintain proper refrigerant handling procedures.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Documentation

  • Complete work orders inspection reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Maintain equipment service history and repair records.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment replacements and system improvements.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders.

Customer & Team Communication

  • Communicate professionally with facility personnel and team members.
  • Explain technical issues and repair recommendations clearly.
  • Build positive working relationships while delivering high-quality service.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Strong experience working with chillers and Building Management/Automation Systems (BMS/BAS).
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC controls refrigeration systems electrical systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical documentation.
  • Valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in HVAC Technology Mechanical Systems or a related field.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Manufacturer certifications from Trane Carrier Daikin York or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting healthcare industrial data center or other mission-critical facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to climb ladders work at heights and access confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand walk bend kneel and work in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work in hot cold noisy and physically demanding conditions.

Work Environment

  • Commercial industrial institutional and mission-critical facilities.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation and after-hours emergency response may be required.
  • Occasional travel between facilities may be required.
