We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Carpenter / Joiner to manufacture and assemble timber formwork and moulds used in the production of precast concrete elements. The successful candidate will work within a fast-paced workshop environment producing high-quality formwork to precise technical specifications for precast concrete production. The role requires strong carpentry and joinery skills the ability to read technical drawings and experience working with timber plywood and specialist formwork materials. Candidates should be comfortable using woodworking machinery and power tools while maintaining high standards of safety accuracy and productivity.
Responsibilities
Manufacture timber moulds shutters and formwork systems for precast concrete components.
Build bespoke formwork for concrete wall panels stairs columns beams slabs and structural or architectural precast units.
Assemble and fit timber plywood steel components and fixtures to exact dimensions.
Interpret engineering drawings production schedules and technical specifications; accurately measure mark and cut materials to required tolerances.
Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively including table saws panel saws mitre saws routers nail guns drills sanders and planers.
Carry out basic maintenance and daily checks on machinery and tools.
Assist production teams with mould preparation setup stripping cleaning and refurbishment after casting.
Install cast-in items block-outs chamfers and fixing systems as required.
Check dimensions squareness and finish quality before production use and identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
Follow all workshop and factory health and safety procedures wear and maintain appropriate PPE and keep work areas clean and organised.
Minimise material wastage assist with material handling storage and stock management.
Qualifications
Proven experience in carpentry joinery or timber formwork manufacturing within a workshop or manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings and work to production deadlines.
Strong understanding of timber construction and assembly methods and experience using woodworking machinery and power tools.
Good attention to detail accuracy and a strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
Desirable: experience within precast concrete manufacturing and manufacturing reusable concrete moulds/formwork.
