GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the direction and supervision of the Summer School Teacher and/or Principal and Assistant Principal the Instructional Paraprofessional assists in the daily supervision and instruction of students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Supervise students in instructional situations in the manner prescribed by the Summer School Teacher and/or Principal and Assistant Principal
- Consult with the teacher concerning academic expectations for individual students
- Supervise students in the classrooms hallways bathrooms playground and at rest time in a safe structured and positive manner that supports the expectations of the teacher and/or principal
- Consults with the teacher and/or principal concerning behavioral expectations for thestudents in different situations
- Mustmeet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of at least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education (four-year college or university); or
- Attainment of an Associate degree at a minimum; or
- Demonstration of knowledge and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics through a formal state or local academic assessment
NOTE
No personal benefits or leave programs (i.e. personal leave sick leave) are available to summer school employees.
Employment will be contingent on summer school student enrollment.
