Position Overview
The Arizona Department of Economic Security (AZDES) is seeking a journey-level Customer Service Representative 2 for the Sierra Vista office. This role involves acting as a primary point of contact for the general public providing information regarding program eligibility licenses and registrations. The position requires the use of discretion when handling sensitive information solving complex customer service complaints and performing research to resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers by telephone or in person to provide information about services process orders and explain program eligibility.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve difficult service or billing complaints; conduct research and analyze policies to address customer issues.
  • Records Management: Maintain accurate records of customer interactions recording details of inquiries complaints and actions taken.
  • Financial Duties: Reconcile cash against known figures prepare and transmit daily deposits to the bank or state treasurers office and determine service charges.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete contract forms update address records and notify customers of claim investigation results.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous customer service experience specifically in solving difficult complaints or navigating complex guidelines.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of administrative and clerical procedures including word processing and record management.
  • Communication: Strong active listening and speaking skills to convey information effectively to a diverse public.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual (Preferred): Proficiency in both English and Spanish is highly desired.
