End Dog Meat Trade (EDMT) Investigation Officer with details as follows:


Position: End Dog Meat Trade (EDMT) Investigation Officer

Employment type: Full- time 1-year fixed-term (renewable)
Department: Program (Bear and Companion)
Work location: Hanoi Viet Nam


Key Responsibilities

Animals Asia is seeking a dedicated EDMT Investigation Officer to conduct field-based investigations into the dog meat trade in Vietnam. This role focuses on generating accurate verified and actionable evidence related to dog sourcing transportation routes and disease prevention violations. The position supports the implementation of EDMT activities and provides evidence for appropriate legal interventions. This position is not a communications-focused role; its an evidence-based field investigation covert and overt investigations in key provinces and cities across Vietnam.

  • Collect verify and document evidence of transport and disease prevention violations in the dog meat trade.
  • Monitor and analyse supply chains from source provinces to main slaughterhouses.
  • Produce clear factual investigation reports to inform program strategy and to support legal interventions.
  • Engage with relevant provincial authorities and stakeholders to share verified findings.
  • Report regularly to the Director of Dog and Cat Welfare and the Program Manager (Bears and Companion Animals).

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Journalism Communications Law Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in investigations compliance monitoring or program implementation.
  • Experience working with government or enforcement authorities is an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to document and verify evidence accurately and ethically.
  • Proficiency in Vietnamese and working-level English.
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office and data management tools).

Personal Attributes

  • High integrity and discretion.
  • Detail-oriented and resilient in challenging field environments.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% of time).
  • Strong commitment to animal welfare and public health goals.
