W Sydney situated waterfront and centre in Darling Harbour is now casting for a vibrant Event Sales & Planning Executive responsible for conversion contracting and closing of meetings conferences exhibitions and social events. From the enquiry through to conversion and seamless planning this role drives maximum profitability and delivers unforgettable client experiencesalways aligned with the bold standards of W Hotels and Marriott International. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales this is an exciting standout opportunity to be part of the dynamic team at W Sydney.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in Catering sales and a keen enthusiasm for continuous learning and advancement while possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

With support from Director of Sales & Events Leader the primary responsibilities of the Event Sales & Planning Executive include:

  • Representing the W brand in all sales activities in line with W Hotels and Marriott Internationals corporate strategies.
  • Responds to incoming events and catering opportunities for the hotel.
  • Qualifies and solicits new events and catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  • Closes the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.
  • Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close business and negotiate contracts.
  • Generate proposals contracts & BEOs in correspondence with clients.
  • Interacts effectively with sales kitchen vendors catering associations and other hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Develop a close working relationship with operations to ensure client satisfaction through the event.
  • Executes excellent customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
  • Serves the client by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations while building a relationship and loyalty to the company.
  • Undertake and arrange Insider Tours for clients as required.
  • Be fully versed across all relevant Marriott International loyalty programs to maximise business opportunities for W Sydney.
  • Performs other duties including reporting as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Attend weekly PACE meetings and any other required meetings for key internal stakeholders and ensure well versed in all enquires they are managing.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with partners suppliers and vendors.

TALENT PROFILE
Education & Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in the event management or related professional area.

    OR

    One year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management Hospitality Business Administration or related major

  • Minimum 2 years experience in in a hotel sales environment required previous experience in the corporate market will be looked upon favourably
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and Microsoft Office skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong time management and interpersonal skills.
