Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Drive export sales growth across multiple Sub-Saharan African markets by achieving agreed sales volumes revenue targets and profit margins in line with business objectives.
- Continuously monitor sales performance against targets identify risks or shortfalls and implement corrective actions to ensure consistent delivery of results.
- Prepare and present regular sales market and performance reports for management including forecasts pipeline updates and opportunity tracking.
- Actively identify and develop new export markets and customer opportunities through market analysis customer engagement and strategic prospecting.
- Develop and implement export business development strategies that support long-term growth and align with overall commercial and operational goals.
- Prepare detailed business proposals conduct commercial negotiations and successfully close new business agreements within approved commercial frameworks.
- Manage approved business development projects ensuring delivery within agreed timelines budgets and operational constraints.
- Build maintain and strengthen long-term relationships with new and existing customers through regular engagement site visits and structured quarterly business reviews.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing customer needs proactively and maintaining consistent communication throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Communicate pricing adjustments product developments market changes and supply updates clearly and timeously to customers.
- Conduct market research and risk assessments to support new market entry and expansion initiatives.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends providing actionable market intelligence and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Represent the business at trade shows industry exhibitions networking events and relevant commercial forums across export markets.
- Liaise closely with internal sales export finance manufacturing supply chain and distribution teams to ensure alignment and effective execution.
- Support On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery performance by coordinating demand forecasts stock planning and customer requirements with supply chain teams.
- Assist with customer credit applications account administration and ongoing financial risk management processes.
- Support and train export representatives through field visits coaching and in-house training initiatives to enhance commercial effectiveness.
- Assist with customer presentations technical discussions and investigations in collaboration with technical and research teams.
- Provide strategic and operational support to senior leadership on export-related initiatives and growth projects.
- Maintain accurate up-to-date documentation and reporting in line with internal governance and compliance requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with export documentation regulatory requirements trade controls and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Business Management Marketing Chemistry or a related commercial or technical discipline.
- A minimum of 6 to 8 years experience in export sales business development and managing cross-border trade within African markets.
- Demonstrated experience in handling export controls regulatory compliance and export documentation across multiple countries.
- Proven track record of developing and growing business across Sub-Saharan and East African markets.
- Industry experience within industrial adhesives chemicals or closely related technical or manufacturing sectors.
- Strong understanding of regional market dynamics customer requirements and competitive landscapes across African export territories.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (60% or more) across multiple African countries as required by the role.
- Proven experience using CRM systems particularly Salesforce to manage customer relationships sales pipelines forecasting and reporting.
