Job Summary

The Construction Manager takes accountability for directing all construction related activities for the project.

Roles and responsibilities include the following:

  • The development of a Construction Management Plan for the project (in line with Valterra Platinum standards) ensuring alignment with the other elements incorporated in the master project schedule e.g. Engineering Procurement and Commissioning.
  • As part of the Construction Management Plan clarify roles and responsibilities between owners team and external contractors (EPCM). This should include any legal and professional accountability specifically those related to safety (in-line with contract conditions).
  • Review and verification of all construction activities.
  • Formal change process is in place and takes responsibility for formal approval of construction changes.
  • Reviews and validates construction progress reporting

This role is on a Band 6/11 level reporting to the Section Engineering Manager


Qualifications :

  • University degree/diploma (construction management preferred).
  • Safety Leadership Program

Experience

5 8 years experience in the following:

Mining and/or Process Operations.

Construction / Engineering Project Management environment.

Construction management experience. (NEC)

Contractor Management.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge and experience of:

Mining and related operations environment.

Technical Areas Geology Mining Metallurgy and Engineering

Projects Environment

Skills

Knowledge on the Valterra Projects Way

Communication skills

Conflict Management

Problem solving
