Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach mindset and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design creation and optimization of systems consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements creation of alternate system design concepts performance of design trade studies selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Establishes product requirements (internal and external) defines components and sub systems making up the overall architecture. Provides forward looking strategy for platforms and technology development / insertion to make product competitive. Defines and provides scope management. (defines the what)
- Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
- Ensure through detailed comparative analysis of solutions options that solutions are scalable sustainable and fault tolerant.
- Work closely with cross functional teams across sites to manage technical program risks integration risks and design tradeoffs.
- Work to ensure QMS compliance DHF readiness & regulatory paperwork to enable CTprograms towards achieving regulatory compliance and commercialization.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
Required Qualifications
- This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Architecture and Design. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document plan market and execute programs.
- Able to work well with global teams including time-zone flexibility.
