The IT Support Technician provides technology support to county staff. Primarily focused on first-level support directly to end users of PC hardware software and peripherals but may support other types of technology.
GENERALSTATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Support Technician classification is primarily responsible for providingroutine assistance and basic facilitation of computer hardware and software operations throughout the county. An entry-level classificationin the Information Technology Department.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under the general supervision of an Information Technology Supervisor who assigns work establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for accuracy completeness and compliance with division or department goals.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.
Typical Duties - Duties include but are not limited to the following
Support Operations
- Create triage and update service requests and incident report tickets for incoming requests for technical assistance.
- Create update and track service requests and incident report ticket results in the operation of the service desk as the single point of contact for all the countys computer users needs.
- Identify diagnose and resolve tier-one technical problems for users of computer software and hardware county network the internet and new computer technology in a call center environment; communicate solutions to end-users.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle for user-reported issues and track status as well as communicate progress in a timely manner.
- Provide general technical support service by telephone e-mail remote desktop session and in-person for walk-in customers.
- Escalate unique complex or highly time-consuming problems to higher-tier subject matter experts.
Provisioning Support- Deploy or remove employee computing systems services and access rapidly to minimize downtime.
- Administer incoming transferring and departing employees access credentials and privileges.
- Perform data retention activities on departing end users computer and network drives in accordance with the agencys public disclosure request guidelines and policies.
- Process employee action requests to facilitate the provisioning transferring and de-provisioning of new hires transferring and departing employees hardware application and network-related information technology services.
Other Job Duties- Participate in meetings in-service training workshops etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned including special projects resulting in process technology and customer satisfaction.
Requirements for the Position
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Graduation from high school; AND
- Two years of computer applications experience related to area of assignment; OR
- Any satisfactory combination of work education training or experience relevant to the position as determined by Marion County.
Preferred Qualifications- Familiarity with Office 365 and related products.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS- Must possess a current drivers license in the applicants state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business. The policy can be found at: finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check including finger printing; however conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.

Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; stoops; climbs 1 floor of stairs; crawls; reaches overhead; lifts up to 40 lbs.; pushes and pulls up to 25 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 100 lbs.; carries up to 20 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12 pt. font; distinguishes colors and shades; hears a normal level of speech; and works in areas that may be exposed to dust.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
