We are seeking a confident motivated and committed Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming and high-performing primary school in Surbiton starting as soon as possible. As the Year 5 Teacher you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum while preparing pupils for the increased expectations of Year 6. You will encourage critical thinking responsibility and confidence helping pupils become motivated and enthusiastic learners.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 5 curriculum
Create a structured engaging and inclusive classroom environment
Use assessment data to track progress and plan targeted interventions
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL
Promote positive behaviour independence and strong learning habits
Prepare pupils for the academic and emotional demands of Year 6
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants colleagues and senior leaders
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Contribute to staff meetings CPD sessions and whole-school initiatives
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2 ideally Year 5
Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and assessment frameworks
Be organised proactive and confident in the classroom
Have excellent classroom management and communication skills
Be reflective adaptable and committed to professional development
Show a strong commitment to inclusion safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
