Job Summary

The Fleet Workshop & Facilities Manager is responsible for the effective management optimisation and cost control of the companys transport fleet workshops and physical facilities. The role ensures high fleet availability efficient fuel usage controlled maintenance expenditure and safe well-maintained factory premises that support uninterrupted manufacturing and distribution operations. This position carries direct accountability for fleet performance analytics route and fuel costings workshop efficiency and facilities maintenance planning balancing operational reliability with commercial discipline.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all maintenance servicing and repairs of the company fleet including goods delivery vehicles forklifts generators and staff-allocated vehicles.
  • Plan prioritise and coordinate daily workshop activities to minimise downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Lead and manage workshop mechanics and technicians enforcing quality standards productivity targets and health & safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records service schedules statutory documentation and asset histories.
  • Control spare parts procurement and inventory levels liaising with suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and availability.
  • Monitor fleet performance using telematics and vehicle tracking systems.
  • Analyse utilisation route efficiency driver behaviour and fuel consumption data.
  • Calculate and report fleet-wide fuel usage identifying variances losses and savings opportunities. Prepare route costings incorporating fuel maintenance wear driver costs tolls and vehicle
  • utilisation to support accurate budgeting and pricing decisions.
  • Produce regular management reports on fleet efficiency costs and improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate the maintenance of factory buildings yards workshops and associated infrastructure.
  • Supervise and allocate tasks to internal building maintenance teams or contractors responsible for repairs and general upkeep.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for facilities in collaboration with factory management.
  • Coordinate repairs refurbishments and minor upgrades ensuring work is completed on time and within approved scope and budgets.
  • Ensure all facilities maintenance complies with safety environmental and operational standards in conjunction with SHEQ requirements.
  • Apply working knowledge of construction plumbing electrical systems and general building maintenance (hands-on expertise is a strong advantage).

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fleet and/or workshop management within FMCG logistics or distribution environments.
  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle mechanics preventive maintenance systems and telematics platforms.
