Job Summary

Our client is looking for a Workshop Manager (Heavy Equipment & Agricultural Machinery) to join their team

Responsibilities:

  • Translate the company strategy into workshop operational plans and targets.
  • Contribute to annual budgets 3-year forecasts and growth strategies.
  • Develop new after-sales revenue streams (service packages seasonal campaigns maintenance contracts field service programs).
  • Support branch expansion product launches and national technical initiatives.
  • Implement capacity planning and workload forecasting.
  • Control WIP levels and ensure aged job reduction.
  • Enforce proper parts planning in coordination with the Parts Department.
  • Optimise field service scheduling and fleet utilisation.
  • Full P&L responsibility for workshop department.
  • Drive labour recovery billing accuracy and absorption rate.
  • Reduce cost leakage through warranty recovery claim management and rework prevention.
  • Enforce strict credit controls and invoice ageing management.
  • Lead key account service management for major clients (estates contractors A2 farmers).
  • Oversee SLA compliance and uptime commitments.
  • Manage escalations negotiations and service recovery.
  • Protect and enhance the company brand through superior after-sales experience.
  • Build a high-performance technical culture.
  • Identify skills gaps and implement structured training programs.
  • Mentor junior managers and supervisors for succession planning.
  • Manage disciplinary processes and performance improvement plans.
  • Maintain accurate ERP job costing and reporting.
  • Prepare weekly operational dashboards and monthly management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with audit insurance warranty and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce security controls over tools assets spares and equipment.
  • Enforce SHEQ standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and an accident-free culture.
  • Implement risk mitigation plans for workshop operations.

Key Skills:

  • Strong financial acumen and business planning skills
  • Ability to lead under pressure and manage high-value customer relationships

Qualifications:

  • 10 years in agricultural machinery or heavy equipment environment
  • Proven record managing large workshops and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Advanced knowledge of tractor systems precision ag diagnostics & electronics
