Purpose Statement
We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead CredPals technology strategy engineering execution and platform scalability. The CTO will be responsible for building and maintaining secure resilient and high-performing systems that power CredPals credit payments investments and financial services ecosystem. As a core member of CredPals executive leadership team the CTO will work closely with Product & Engineering Risk Compliance and Business leaders to translate strategic objectives into scalable technical solutions. This role is ideal for a hands-on technology leader with deep fintech experience strong people leadership and a passion for building impactful financial infrastructure in emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute CredPals long-term technology vision in alignment with business growth and product strategy.
Architect scalable secure and high-availability systems supporting credit origination payments investments savings and bill payments.
Lead decisions on infrastructure cloud services tooling and emerging technologies to support rapid scale.
Engineering Leadership & Execution
Build lead and mentor a high-performing engineering organization across backend frontend mobile DevOps data and quality assurance.
Partner closely with Product leadership to deliver CredPals product roadmap efficiently and at high quality.
Establish engineering standards best practices documentation and performance benchmarks.
Scalability Reliability & Performance
Ensure platform reliability uptime and performance across all customer-facing and internal systems.
Drive adoption of DevOps CI/CD and automation to enable fast safe and frequent releases.
Lead incident management system monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Security Risk & Regulatory Compliance
Own CredPals technology security posture data protection and infrastructure resilience.
Ensure compliance with relevant fintech regulations data protection laws (NDPR) and industry standards.
Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to embed risk controls and fraud prevention mechanisms into system design.
Data & Credit Enablement
Enable reliable data infrastructure to support credit scoring risk assessment and data-driven decision-making.
Ensure data accuracy availability and scalability across product risk and business functions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product Risk Compliance Operations and Commercial teams to align technology execution with market and customer needs.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay ahead of fintech credit and payments technology trends relevant to Nigeria and other developing markets.
Balance innovation with system stability regulatory requirements and customer trust.
Continuously improve engineering processes using agile methodologies and modern development practices.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field; a Masters degree is an advantage.
6 years of experience in software engineering with at least 45 years in a senior technology leadership role.
Proven experience building and scaling fintech platforms particularly in credit payments or digital financial services.
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure APIs microservices distributed systems and mobile-first architectures.
Deep knowledge of security risk management and regulatory requirements in financial services.
Experience leading and scaling engineering teams in high-growth or startup environments.
Strong understanding of agile development DevOps practices and modern engineering workflows.
Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong familiarity with the Nigerian fintech ecosystem and operating in emerging markets is a major advantage.
