In partnership with our client we are seeking a Public Relations and Community Liaison Officer who understands that construction projects do not exist in isolation. They exist within communities and the relationships built with those communities can determine whether a project runs smoothly or faces constant disruption. This is a role for a skilled relationship builder and communicator who can manage community engagement resolve conflicts and maintain strong ties with government agencies and regulatory bodies. Who are we looking for
- You are an experienced PR and community liaison professional with a background in the construction industry.
- You are a skilled relationship manager able to engage host communities government agencies and stakeholders with confidence and cultural sensitivity.
- You are a natural mediator able to de-escalate tensions and resolve community disputes before they become project disruptions.
- You are proactive identifying potential community issues early and addressing them before they escalate.
- You are well-connected and able to navigate government and regulatory relationships to support project approvals and permits.
- You are a strong communicator both written and verbal able to represent the organisation professionally at all levels.
Your Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- You will handle all community engagement activities around project sites building trust and maintaining positive relationships with host communities.
- You will manage local employment issues ensuring community concerns around jobs and inclusion are addressed fairly and transparently.
- You will address community complaints and conflicts swiftly and professionally preventing escalation that could disrupt project delivery.
Government and Regulatory Relations
- You will maintain strong relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies relevant to the organisations projects.
- You will support the process of obtaining project approvals and permits by managing relationships with the relevant authorities.
What Success looks like
- Host communities around all project sites are engaged proactively and relationships are consistently positive.
- Community complaints and conflicts are resolved quickly with minimal disruption to project operations.
- Government and regulatory relationships are well-maintained supporting smooth project approvals and permit processes.
- Local employment issues are managed fairly and transparently reducing community tensions.
- The organisation maintains a strong and respected reputation within every community it operates in.
To be considered for this role you should have
- A Bachelors degree in Public Relations Communications Social Sciences or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in a PR or community liaison role within a top construction company.
- Strong experience managing host community relationships in construction or infrastructure environments.
- Excellent conflict resolution negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Good understanding of government and regulatory processes related to construction projects.
