How youll make an impact
As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway you will join a team of other carers responsible for caring and supporting people with disabilities in their homes.
A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may see you:
- Support participants to meet their goals particularly in alignment with their NDIS plan with a focus on safety dignity and client goals.
- Provide in-home support with health requirements personal care and daily living tasks in alignment with the participants needs and the Care Team support requirements
- Assist with the delivery of activities to enhance the development of capacity and skills across physical social emotional and intellectual domains
- Prepare meals and ensure dietary needs are met.
- Advocate for participants and empower them with choice and control
Where required provide:
o Assistance with medication administration
o Manual handling assistance
o Behavioural and Mental Health Support
What were looking for
As a patient flexible and understanding individual with a supportive and caring nature ideally with experience within thedisability or health care sectors youll have;
- Compassion and empathy to make a difference in peoples lives. You must have experience with participants who have high needs and complex behaviour and must have good communication skills.
- A commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives
- Strong listening and communication skills and be detail-oriented
- A patient flexible understanding supportive and caring nature
- An ability to accept responsibility and work as part of a team
Desirable however not essential;
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
- Valid drivers licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
