Adjunct Instructor of Creative Arts School of Liberal Arts

JOB SUMMARY

Spalding Universitys School of Liberal Arts invites applications for adjunct professors to teach up to 3 introductory undergraduate classes in Design Thinking and Problem Solving Illustration (analog and digital) Typography Graphic Design and/or Web Design during the 2026-27 academic year.

Contracts may be renewed for additional terms based on departmental needs funding ability and candidate performance. A minimum of a Masters degree in Graphic Design or a related discipline is required.

Creative Arts courses are part of the University Studies requirements at Spalding University and contribute to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Arts. For information about the School of Liberal Arts see



Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching formats:
    • 75 minute in-person daytime classes Mondays through Thursdays for 8 weeks
    • 150 minute in-person daytime classes twice a week for 8 weeks
  • Following School of Liberal Arts and University standards for course syllabi and LMS (Canvas)

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • M.A. or M.F.A. degree in studio art (with demonstrated concentration in graphic design)
  • Teaching experience in higher education is preferred
  • Evidence of artistic production: please submit images or a link to an online portfolio with your application

INTERRELATIONS

  • Regular or daily contact with administration faculty staff and students.
  • Collaborations with Creative Writing and/or Communication faculty on student projects.
  • Must have an appreciation and respect for diverse populations.
