Job Summary

As the Art Director for our internal agency Creative X you will help shape how Fortune Brands Innovations brands connect with consumers and professionals through thoughtful engaging creative experiences.

In this role you will combine conceptual thinking design craft and brand stewardship to create meaningful creative that supports consumer engagement empowers professional customers strengthens brand equity and contributes to business growth across our mass premium and luxury portfolios.

You will partner with teams across Fortune Brands Innovations business units to bring cohesive creative to life with an initial focus on our Water business including brands such as Moen and House of Rohl.

Working closely with Brand Product Channel and cross-functional partners you will translate insights and strategy into cohesive creative across integrated campaigns digital content social storytelling photography video retail environments packaging and experiential activations including showroom experiences trade shows and large-scale brand events.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with diverse teams guiding creative exploration and nurturing ideas from concept through execution. A strong understanding of brand systems elevated design aesthetics and integrated storytelling will help ensure our creative work remains consistent inspiring and culturally relevant.

Experience exploring GenAI and AI-powered creative tools to support ideation design exploration and creative workflows is also valuable.

POSITION LOCATION: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out of Deerfield IL. Effective fall 2025 Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices brands and functions. The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration along with amenities for dining onsite daycare fitness and recreation.

What you will be doing:

Brand & Campaign Development

  • Help shape art direction across integrated campaigns for all business units ensuring creative work feels cohesive insight-driven and aligned with brand strategy.
  • Translate consumer insights brand positioning and business goals into engaging creative concepts visual storytelling and campaign experiences.
  • Collaborate with copywriters designers and cross-functional partners to create creative that encourages connection engagement and brand preference.
  • Support the premium and luxury expression of our brands through refined visual systems thoughtful design execution and carefully crafted photography direction.

Experiential & Retail Experiences

  • Concept and develop creative for experiential moments including trade shows showroom environments events and retail installations.
  • Partner with brand and retail teams to design immersive brand experiences that bring product stories and innovation to life.
  • Ensure experiential and retail creative aligns with brand systems while creating memorable and welcoming brand interactions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Marketing Product and other teams to understand goals and shape creative solutions that support both brand expression and business needs.
  • Share creative ideas and visual direction with stakeholders in a way that builds understanding trust and alignment.
  • Act as a thoughtful creative partner helping teams clarify opportunities refine briefs and move ideas forward collaboratively.

Creative Craft & Team Collaboration

  • Guide art direction across photo and video shoots as well as CGI development supporting composition lighting styling and storytelling.
  • Support and mentor designers and junior creatives helping nurture creativity curiosity and continuous growth.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of brand guidelines and visual systems so they remain consistent modern and culturally relevant.

Innovation & Creative Exploration

  • Explore and apply GenAI and emerging creative technologies to support ideation expand visual exploration and enhance creative workflows.
  • Use insights and category trends to help creative work remain relevant and meaningful to audiences.
  • Collaborate with production partners to maintain high-quality creative across all asset types.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree and at least 6 years of art direction or visual design experience within an agency or in-house creative team OR High School Diploma and at least 8 years of art direction or visual design experience within an agency or in-house creative team.
  • Experience supporting and directing photo and video production with familiarity in production workflows and visual storytelling approaches.
  • Experience working across digital content social media retail environments packaging and experiential activations.
  • Understanding of brand systems visual identity frameworks and design consistency.
  • Experience managing complex creative initiatives while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience exploring or applying AI-powered creative tools or generative AI in the creative process.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build positive relationships across teams.
  • Portfolio Required: A portfolio demonstrating thoughtful visual storytelling and integrated campaign work across digital social and content experiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in agency environments or in-house creative teams.
  • Background in durable goods home products kitchen/bath lifestyle or design-driven categories.
  • Experience working with premium or luxury brands that emphasize elevated design and brand storytelling.
  • Experience contributing to large-scale brand campaigns and experiential brand activations.

Additional Information :

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $90000 USD - $135000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range or be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to education training experience professional achievement business need and addition to base salary employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance or a role-based sales incentive plan.
