The Fuel Operations Manager is accountable for ensuring jet fuel supply for the operations of Qantas and its subsidiaries within set policies and guidelines and in line with Qantas Group strategy.

Daily responsibilities include ensuring there is sufficient fuel to meet demand at scheduled ports negotiating arrangements for chartered and alternate ports ensuring that fuel quality and operations meet global and Qantas standards and being the first point of contact for communications and provision of solutions to internal stakeholders relating to fuel quality reliability and supply issues.

This is a hands-on strategic role which will see you develop supplier relationships lead a small team oversee quality inspections and manage fuel disruptions.

What youll bring to the role

  • Demonstrable deep level of understanding of fuel supply quality and operations and ability to articulate its alignment with overall business goals
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness with a clear understanding of the drivers affecting the business. Able to demonstrate a passion for delivering commercially astute outcomes.
  • Ability to adopt new methods and processes in order to deliver outcomes that meet the internal customer need consistently challenging existing paradigms
  • Previous experience working in the aviation fuel sector is highly preferred with a relevant degree in Business Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in auditing is preferred particularly in an IATA function
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 and travel to ports as required.
