The Portfolio Manager Case Management (ER Manager) will lead and coach a small team of case management professionals setting the standard for high quality consistent and compliant case management across a designated portfolio within the Qantas Group. This portfolio includes Jetstar QantasLink Engineering Freight Network Aviation and Qantas Ground Services (QGS). You will deliver expert advice on complex and sensitive people matters including misconduct investigations grievances performance management and whistleblower cases. This role may also have a small case load of more complex and sensitive cases in addition to leading and coaching Case Managers with their own case load.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Case Management you will support Case Managers investigate individual cases and ensure balanced outcomes that appropriately manage risk while supporting employee wellbeing and operational requirements. Success in this role requires strong people leadership capability sound judgement and the ability to build team capability coach through complexity and sustain performance in a fast-paced environment.
This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Employee Relations Manager or ER professional with demonstrated people leadership experience who enjoys balancing hands on case ownership with coaching and developing others and who brings strong judgement credibility and calm leadership to complex and sensitive situations.
What youll bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualification in Employment Law/Human Resources/related field
- Proven experience in Employee Relations case management or employment law ideally within a large complex or highly regulated organisation
- Proven experience leading and developing teams in complex HR case management ER or employment law environments
- A strong coaching mindset with the ability to build capability and confidence in others
- Sound judgement exceptional communication skills and the ability to navigate sensitive matters with discretion and empathy
- Experience operating in large complex or highly regulated organisations
- Strong stakeholder influencing skills including at senior leadership level
- A detailed approach to decision making and continuous improvement
- Resilience and emotional intelligence when dealing with challenging situations
