Role Purpose
The Head of PR Australia is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for defining protecting and enhancing the Polestar brand reputation across all Australian media and stakeholder channels. This role will be crucial in amplifying the brands unique positioning as a premium design-focused and sustainable electric performance car significantly driving brand awareness and consideration in a competitive and rapidly evolving local EV landscape.
What youll do
1. PR Strategy & Leadership
Develop and Execute: Create a high-impact integrated national PR and communications strategy that is locally relevant while strictly adhering to Polestars global brand identity (design sustainability performance).
Brand Narrative: Drive the Polestar story beyond product launches focusing on key pillars like technology architecture/design and our leading commitment to climate-neutrality and supply chain transparency.
Agency Management: Lead and manage the local PR agency partner setting clear KPIs managing budgets and ensuring high-quality impactful and efficient execution.
2. Media & Influencer Relations
Cultivate Key Relationships: Build and maintain deep strategic relationships with top-tier Australian media across automotive lifestyle technology business and sustainability sectors.
Spokesperson & Interview Management: Act as the primary media contact and spokesperson for Polestar Australia as required and manage/train local executive spokespeople for all media engagements.
Product & Brand Launches: Plan and execute flawless local press events drive experiences and media loan programmes for new vehicle models (e.g. Polestar 3 Polestar 4 etc.) to generate exceptional high-quality coverage.
3. Crisis & Issues Management
Reputation Management: Proactively monitor the media landscape for potential issues and develop robust pre-emptive crisis communications plans.
Rapid Response: Lead the local response team during a crisis managing messaging and external communications to protect brand reputation in line with global guidelines.
Internal Alignment: Work closely with legal customer experience and global teams to ensure consistent accurate and timely information flow.
4. Integrated Communications
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with the Head of Marketing Head of Sales and Customer Experience teams to ensure PR activities are fully integrated with digital campaigns retail experiences (Polestar Spaces) and business objectives.
Content Creation: Oversee the development of compelling and precise local press releases media kits Q&As and internal communications ensuring all content is editorially superb and on-brand.
Reporting & Analysis: Establish clear metrics for success tracking media sentiment coverage volume and PR contribution to brand awareness and consideration reporting key insights back to the local MD and Global HQ.
Who you are
Experience: Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in Public Relations/Communications with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Head of/Director level).
Industry Knowledge: Essential experience in the premium automotive technology or high-design lifestyle sector in the Australian market.
Strategic Acumen: Proven ability to translate complex business objectives (e.g. sustainability digital sales) into compelling newsworthy media stories.
Media Network: Established high-level contacts across Australian media particularly in automotive and mainstream business/lifestyle publications.
Crisis Management: Demonstrable experience successfully managing complex reputational issues and high-stakes media environments.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable serving as a primary brand spokesperson.
Education: Bachelors degree in Communications Marketing Journalism or a related field.
Financial Management: The successful candidate will be required to work with the finance team to set a budget for the year and then be able to plan and manage the departments finances to remain within the agreed budget.

Customer Focus: Understands the premium customer and tailors communications to enhance their experience and brand loyalty.
