About the role

As the Head of the Genomics Unit you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of a high-quality efficient and cost-effective diagnostic pathology service. Drawing on your professional expertise and experience you will lead a multidisciplinary team to support the accurate timely and clinically relevant delivery of genomics services that contribute to improved patient outcomes.

In this pivotal role you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory coordinating scientific technical operational and data entry functions to ensure optimal performance. You will play a key role in the development and implementation of policies procedures and documentation fostering a culture of quality collaboration and continuous improvement across the Genomics Unit.

About You

You are an experienced and accountable medical scientist with strong leadership capability extensive diagnostic expertise and a commitment to delivering high-quality accredited pathology services.

• Appropriately qualified under NPAAC requirements with extensive scientific experience across multiple pathology disciplines and the ability to provide professional opinion on the clinical significance of diagnostic findings.

• Demonstrated leadership and people management capability including motivating and coordinating teams managing performance resolving conflict and supporting education training and workforce development.

• Strong analytical critical thinking and problem-solving skills with experience implementing service improvements managing change and delivering high-quality outcomes under pressure with attention to detail.

• Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic pathology operations quality and accreditation frameworks (NATA/NPAAC) governance WHS budget and resource management supported by advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
