Position Function:This position coordinates and supports the work of the Board. This position contracts with and reports to the Board and Superintendentassistingthemin meeting and analyzing District goals and position fulfills the statutory requirements for Secretary to the Board andfacilitatescommunication between theBoard and the Superintendent administrative staff legal counsel the chief negotiator for theDistrict and external agencies asappropriate. Upon the direction of the BoardnandtheSuperintendent this position has the authority to have support staff and toenter intocontracts with external agencies toassistin meeting the duties of the office. The Superintendent and the Board will participate jointly in the performance evaluation of the BoardSecretary.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum of aMasters Degree in educational administration business administration ora relatedfield.
- Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in area of administration and supervisionrequired.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Superintendent providingappropriate datato the Board so that it may effectively evaluateprogress on District goals/strategies.
- In conjunction with the Superintendent providing information to the Board so they may assess compliance with written policy and procedure and applicable laws and regulations for current and proposed district initiatives.
- Oversight of ongoing auditing operational processes and auditing of all accounts of theDistrictas required under statute by the secretary.
- Performing all duties imposed by statute and regulation on the Secretary of the Board and as imposed by the policies and practices of the Board.Dutiesas set forth in policies and regulationsmay be delegated and done in conjunction with Administration.
- Attending all meetings of the Board unlessexcused;andkeepinganaccuratejournal of the proceedings of Board and Committee meetings.
- Maintaining all records reports petitions and other documents presented to and referred to in the minutes of the Board including budget input sessionspodcastsand other records of meetings.
- Assuring the proper notifications to the public of meetings and the necessary posting of materials for Boardmeetings and Committee meetings on websites or as isdeterminedappropriate by the Board for use by the Board and by the public.
- Taking charge of the books and records of the Board;maintainingthe internal budget of the Board.
- Maintaining all contracts records and documents belonging to the Board andmaintaininga duplicate copy of all contracts of employment with certificated employees of the district including but not limited to the contractand evaluationsof the Superintendent.
- Supportingthe business affairs and day-to-day operationof the Boardserving as a liaison between the Board and the Superintendentthe staffthe public the community and media via district communications and public relations.
- Ensuringappropriate policychangesrequired bylegislative and regulatory changes are brought to the Board for considerationin a timely manner working with Administrationand legal counsel to developsamas required by statute ordesiredby the Board.
- Assisting the Board Superintendent and Board Committees in the creationof policies agendas minutes announcements working with Administration to develop same as required by statute ordesiredby the Board.
- Overseeingprovision of support to Board for Board travelconferencesand schedules.
- Supporting theestablishmentupdatingand reporting totheBoard ontheBoardscalendar.
- Facilitating with theSuperintendent andthe Board planning and workshops Boardself-evaluationand Superintendent evaluation.
- Facilitatingwith theSuperintendenttheprovision of a comprehensive orientation and training for eachnewly electedor appointed Board Member.
- Performing all otherduties asassigned by theSuperintendentBoardand Board Policy.

Terms of Employment
