Job Summary
The Community Supervision Officer III is the highest-ranking non-supervisory officer responsible for managing high-risk offender caseloads mentoring junior officers and ensuring compliance with Arkansas state laws and community supervision policies. This position requires advanced expertise in offender supervision case management and risk assessment.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee a complex caseload of high-risk individuals including violent offenders repeat offenders and those requiring intensive thorough risk assessments and develop case plans tailored to offender needs utilizing evidence-based compliance with court-ordered conditions including restitution treatment programs and community field visits employment verifications and home inspections to ensure offender adherence to supervision violations of supervision conditions determine appropriate responses and recommend necessary actions to courts or parole arrests when necessary for supervision violations and coordinate with law enforcement agencies on offender and submit detailed reports violation notices and testimony for use in court adherence to all state laws department policies and ethical guidelines related to community as a senior resource and mentor for lower-ranking officers providing training guidance and case strategy with law enforcement community organizations treatment providers and mental health professionals to promote offender supervised individuals with vocational training education programs substance abuse treatment and mental health in task forces advisory boards and community engagement initiatives to improve public accurate and comprehensive case files reports and documentation related to offender progress and case management software and risk assessment tools to track offender behavior and supervision status.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong ability to manage complex high-risk caseloads and apply critical thinking in supervision in crisis intervention conflict resolution and de-escalation of criminal behavior recidivism prevention strategies and rehabilitation -depth understanding of Arkansas criminal justice laws probation and parole policies and court to interpret legal documents enforce supervision conditions and ensure compliance with state ethical standards confidentiality awareness and professionalism in all in policy development procedural improvements and interagency written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports delivering testimony and coordinating with ability to build rapport with offenders law enforcement judicial officials and community negotiation mediation and crisis intervention in case management software risk assessment tools and state reporting organizational skills to prioritize cases manage documentation and meet -oriented approach to ensuring accurate record-keeping and case analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
At least two years of experience in criminal justice social work public administration psychology or a related field.
Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications including years of experience and service does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management taking into consideration the employees demonstrated skills competencies performance workload responsibilities and organizational needs.
