Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Indian Percussion Music Teacher to join our Performing Arts Department. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Tabla and a variety of Indian percussion instruments with the ability to inspire students and prepare them for stage performances recitals competitions and formal assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Tabla and multiple Indian percussion instruments (such as Mridangam Dholak Kanjira Ghatam Pakhawaj etc.).
Conduct individual lessons group sessions and ensemble rehearsals.
Train students for school concerts cultural events competitions and examinations where applicable.
Develop lesson plans and structured learning pathways for Indian percussion.
Collaborate with the Music and Performing Arts faculty for interdisciplinary productions.
Maintain and care for all Indian percussion instruments; oversee tuning and upkeep.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback and reports.
Support the cultural ethos of GSIS by preparing students for Indian classical and folk performances.
Participate actively in the responsibilities and routines of a residential school.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Tabla performance and teaching.
Ability to play and teach multiple Indian percussion instruments.
Minimum 23 years of teaching experience preferably in an IB/IGCSE/ICSE or international school.
Knowledge of Indian classical music theory (Hindustani and/or Carnatic).
Ability to accompany vocalists instrumentalists and dance performances.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Passion for teaching students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Attributes
Experience training students for stage performances and competitions.
Ability to lead Indian percussion ensembles or fusion groups.
Adaptability to the environment and expectations of a full-boarding school.
Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to co-curricular programs.
