The Keyboard Teacher will deliver high-quality piano and electronic keyboard instruction nurturing students technical facility and musical expression. The role focuses on developing a strong foundation in finger independence posture and music literacy. The teacher will be responsible for creating an environment where students can explore both the classical discipline of the piano and the creative versatility of the modern keyboard.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning (Instrumental focus)
Plan and deliver structured keyboard lessons that balance technical fingerwork with expressive repertoire.
Develop sight-reading ear training and two-hand coordination skills appropriate for all learner levels.
Integrate scales chords and music theory into practical sessions to build a complete musical foundation.
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning paces and musical preferences (Classical vs. Contemporary).
2. Curriculum & Musical Development
Design a progressive keyboard curriculum that builds a strong vocabulary in melody harmony and rhythm.
Promote appreciation for diverse styles including Baroque Classical Romantic and modern synth-pop/jazz.
Encourage creative exploration through improvisation basic composition and digital sound design.
3. Assessment & Documentation
Use periodic practical evaluations to monitor progress in technical accuracy and musicality.
Document learning evidence through student portfolios performance recordings and progress reports.
Provide constructive feedback and prepare students for international music grade examinations (e.g. Trinity College London ABRSM).
4. Collaboration & School Engagement
Collaborate with the performing arts team to provide keyboard/piano accompaniment for school events and choirs.
Participate in planning meetings school concerts assemblies and annual exhibitions.
Support school initiatives by training student-led bands and overseeing the maintenance of musical equipment.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Music or a professional diploma from a recognized music conservatory.
Grade 8 Certification in Piano or Electronic Keyboard from recognized boards (e.g. Trinity ABRSM or Rockschool) is highly preferred.
Eligibility & Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years of total teaching experience Compulsory.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a reputed school or music academy environment Preferred.
Experience in preparing students for Trinity/ABRSM practical and theory exams.
Positions are open for experienced candidates only. Freshers need not apply.
