SOFTWARE SPECIALIST- Technology & Information Services

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Software Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for software development troubleshooting and ongoing system maintenance. This position plays a key role in assisting software engineers with development tasks ensuring software applications are functioning as expected and contributing to the documentation and enhancement of software systems. The Software Specialist will work closely with other IT teams to support both new and existing software solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associates or Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field. Certifications in software development or related technologies are a plus.
2. 1-2 years of experience in software development or IT support roles.
3. Experience with software testing and troubleshooting.
4. Familiarity with programming languages such as Java Python C# or others.
5. Basic knowledge of software development principles and methodologies.
6. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve software issues.
7. Good communication skills for documenting processes and assisting users.
8. Familiarity with software testing tools and techniques.
9. Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of software development.

12. Provide own transportation to numerous settings that may include occasional evenings and overnight stays based on departmental needs.

1. Software Configuration & Setup: Assist with the configuration of software applications to meet organizational and user needs including permissions workflows and settings.
2. End-User Support: Provide technical support to users by troubleshooting software issues answering questions and assisting with day-to-day application use.
3. Routine Maintenance & Updates: Support software updates and patch tracking. Confirm functionality following updates and help ensure software remains current and reliable.
4. Technical Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve common software-related issues and escalate more complex problems to junior or senior software engineers as needed.
5. Testing Support: Assist in executing test cases reporting bugs and verifying software changes during implementation and upgrade cycles.
6. Documentation & User Guides: Maintain user-facing documentation including how-to guides and support resources. Contribute to technical documentation for internal use.
7. Configuration Management: Modify and maintain system settings and features within applications to support department-specific and organization-wide use cases.
8. Data Entry & System Setup: Support the input or migration of data manage user roles and adjust application defaults as part of ongoing operations and onboarding processes.
9. Collaboration & Communication: Work with software engineers IT teams and departments to troubleshoot issues optimize configurations and ensure user satisfaction.
10. Professional Development: Participate in training and mentorship to build software-related skills and stay current on relevant tools systems and user needs.
SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION
- Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
- Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD Classified salary schedule will be commensurate with applicants qualifications relevant training and experience
- Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health dental and vision insurance premiums
- Employer paid PERS holidays sick leave and personal days are also provided
- Employer paid Life Insurance 1 x annual salary
