Clinical Study Coordinator (at the rank of Senior Research Assistant) in the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit Centre of Cancer Medicine School of Clinical Medicine

(Ref.: 533771) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Centre of Cancer Medicine is a platform to facilitate the academic development of cancer medicine and oncology created to foster collaboration among the cognate disciplines/(sub)specialities within the Centre of Cancer Medicine/School of Clinical Medicine and with other Schools/Departments/Institutes/Hospitals/Colleges. The Cancer Clinical Trials Unit is dedicated for the management organization and conduction of oncology and related clinical research.

Applicants should hold a Masters degree or above in Biological Medical or Life Sciences or a related discipline. A proven track record in clinical research or trial coordination is required and prior supervisory or leadership experience will be considered an advantage.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving abilities coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and a commitment to research excellence are essential qualities. Self-motivation and the capacity to work independently while maintaining high standards of performance are also critical. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Cantonese is required to ensure effective communication with diverse stakeholders and collaborators.

The Senior Research Assistant will be responsible for leading the planning coordination and execution of oncology clinical trials. This includes overseeing the full cycle of study operations to ensure that projects are conducted efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards.

In addition to managing trial activities the appointee will supervise and mentor junior staff such as Technical Officers and Assistants ensuring that all procedures are carried out with accuracy and compliance. The role also involves overseeing participant recruitment and screening as well as conducting study-related procedures including phlebotomy when required.

The Senior Research Assistant will oversee documentation reporting and audit activities acting as the central point of contact for trial sponsors contract research organizations hospitals and academic partners. They will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction of research initiatives and will be responsible for driving ongoing improvements in clinical trial processes and operational efficiency.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
