Job Summary

A growing payments institution is looking to welcome a Finance Operations & Reconciliations Officer to its expanding team in Malta. This role sits at the core of the organisations financial engine supporting day-to-day operational finance reconciliation processes and regulatory obligations.

The ideal candidate is analytical detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced fintech environment where accuracy structure and collaboration are key.

Tasks

  • Manage daily weekly and monthly reconciliations across banking partners acquirers and other key financial channels.
  • Perform daily reconciliations of customer fund movements ensuring safeguarded and operational accounts are monitored accurately.
  • Support treasury-related activities including managing prefunding levels and balances held with partners.
  • Assist in overseeing daily transaction processing and operational finance workflows.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts and internal financial reports.
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory reports required by authorities such as the MFSA and Central Bank.
  • Maintain and update internal finance procedures and operational manuals.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial operations and streamline processes.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and financial insights to senior management and the Head of Finance.

Requirements

  • A higher education qualification in Accountancy or in the final stages of ACCA (or equivalent).
  • 2-4 years experience in a similar operational finance or reconciliation role within the financial services sector ideally within an EMI payments institution or fintech environment.
  • Strong understanding of payments ecosystems including card acquiring card processing and alternative payment methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal.
  • Strong initiative ownership and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work accurately under time-sensitive conditions
